Craftsman style house plans have their roots in Southern California but can been found throughout the country in many varieties. Most were built during the early 1900's through the 1920's. Today, the arts & crafts style commonly referred to as craftsman house plans, have enjoyed a rebirth with the style being embraced by builders and homeowners who appreciate the rustic look.
Craftsman homes typically have exposed beams, and corbels. The term indicated the home was not just built, but hand crafted. There is typically quite a bit of detail with finish trim, and built-in furniture, such as desks, cabinetry and closets.
